Pocket Rivals Methodology

Pocket Rivals combines official Marvel Rivals source context with original Bronze-to-Platinum ranked advice. This page explains what is official, what is editorial, what is AI-assisted, and what the site does not claim.

Updated 2026-06-06

Method in one sentence

Official facts first, ranked judgement second

Official sources answer what changed. Pocket Rivals answers what a lower-rank player can do with that information in the next fight, hero choice, counter swap, or review note.

Step 1

Start with official context

Roster facts, patch windows, event context, and source links come from official Marvel Rivals pages or site data derived from those pages.

Evidence: Source Library, Daily Digest entries, official hero pages, and official patch or balance posts.

Step 2

Add Pocket Rivals ranked judgement

The site then asks what a Bronze-to-Platinum player should do with that context before the next queue.

Evidence: Guide pages, role hubs, hero editorial modules, counterplay reads, and Start Here paths.

Step 3

Label uncertainty

When a recommendation depends on rank, role comfort, enemy pressure, map phase, or a changing patch, the page should say so.

Evidence: Counter confidence notes, editorial policy checks, and no live-stat disclaimers.

Step 4

Verify the page still helps

Public pages should answer a specific player problem, link to related tools or sources, and avoid private-data requests.

Evidence: Content checks, smoke routes, rendered audit, and manual review before shipping.

How each content type is handled

Different pages need different evidence

Tier List

Source basis: Official Hot List context plus Pocket Rivals lower-rank usability reads.

Limit: The tier list is not a promise of live win rate, matchmaking outcome, or pro-play priority.

Open page

Counter Picker and Counterplay Hub

Source basis: These counter picks are hand-written from official Season 8 changes and practical ranked matchups. They are not live win-rate stats.

Limit: Counter picks are practical ranked answers. They are not automated matchup statistics.

Open page

Hero Pages

Source basis: Official hero source links, site matchup data, role context, and Pocket Rivals editorial modules.

Limit: Hero pages explain ranked use cases and practice priorities, not guaranteed performance.

Open page

Daily Digest

Source basis: Latest checked digest window: 4-6 Jun 2026.

Limit: A no-update digest means no newer official gameplay or balance source was found during that check.

Open page

Match Analysis

Source basis: Gameplay-only user notes plus the current V1 coach prompt and privacy guardrails.

Limit: Coach responses are suggestions for the next fight, not a full replay review or account-level diagnosis.

Review cadence

What should trigger updates

  • Patch-sensitive pages should be checked when official Marvel Rivals posts change roster, balance, events, or source context.
  • Daily Digest entries stay dated so readers can see when the source window was reviewed.
  • Static guide pages should change when the ranked advice, linked routes, source basis, or privacy copy changes.
  • Hero editorial modules should be revised when official hero details or matchup assumptions become stale.
