Strategist Survival Guide for Marvel Rivals Ranked

Strategists lose games when they are forced to choose between healing the team and saving themselves. Good survival play makes that choice happen less often. The goal is to stand where you can heal, see pressure early, and retreat toward help instead of away from it.

Quick take

  • 1Your safest position is near useful cover and a teammate, not at maximum distance.
  • 2Spend defensive cooldowns on real threats, not on poke that cover could solve.
  • 3When you are pressured, move toward peel and keep your line of sight useful.

Play near a rescue route

A rescue route is the path you take when a Duelist or dive hero commits to you. It should move you closer to a teammate, closer to cover, or closer to an angle where your team can punish the chase.

If your escape path takes you behind a wall where nobody can help, you may survive for two seconds and still lose the fight. Before each team fight, decide where you will move if the enemy jumps you.

  • Can your team see the enemy if they chase you?
  • Can you keep healing while moving to safety?
  • Does your retreat path lead toward cover instead of open space?

Separate healing rhythm from panic healing

A steady Strategist keeps teammates healthy enough before the fight explodes. Panic healing starts after everyone is already critical, which forces you to burn cooldowns and ignore your own safety.

Use quiet moments to reset health bars, reload or reposition if your hero needs it, and check which enemy threat is missing from the screen. That missing threat is often the next player trying to reach you.

Ask for peel in a way teammates can act on

A useful call is short and specific: enemy name, location, and what you need. Generic frustration usually arrives too late and gives teammates no target.

If your team does not react after two fights, adjust your own plan first. Stand closer to the player most likely to help, switch to a safer route, or consider a support swap that survives the specific pressure better.

  • Say the enemy hero name.
  • Give the location or angle.
  • Call before you are one hit from death.
